Bluelab Truncheon – check nutrient solutions without calibration

The Bluelab Truncheon Nutrient Meter is a handheld conductivity meter for checking nutrient solutions. Suitable for beginners and experienced growers, it helps you assess dissolved salt concentration without buttons or recalibration. Its long body also doubles as a stirrer for your nutrient solution.

Read EC, CF and ppm from one scale

Read EC, CF, ppm 500 and ppm 700 directly from the blue LED scale. Electrical conductivity indicates dissolved salts, not the amounts of individual nutrients. The ppm scales convert the EC reading using factors of 500 and 700 respectively.

The Truncheon does not measure pH or display temperature. Add a Bluelab pH Pen for separate pH checks.

Dip the probe for temperature-compensated readings

Dip the probe head into a well-mixed nutrient solution with the protective shroud fitted. Allow around ten seconds for temperature equalisation, or one to two minutes when temperatures differ significantly. Automatic temperature compensation accounts for temperature effects on conductivity. Alternating adjacent LEDs indicate the value halfway between them. The meter switches itself on and off automatically.

Keep the sensor clean, without recalibrating

Rinse the probe head with clean water after use and clean it regularly, for example with the Bluelab EC Cleaning and Calibration Set. Check accuracy at least monthly with Bluelab EC 2.77 reference solution. This verifies the reading rather than recalibrating the meter. Avoid touching the sensor faces with your fingers and store the meter outside the nutrient reservoir.

Water with conductivity below 0.2 mS/cm is outside its measuring range.
