Demand-based watering with an individual Tropf-Blumat sensor

The Tropf-Blumat without T-piece or tubing is the central sensing and watering component of the Tropf-Blumat system. Positioned in moist soil beside the plant, it responds directly to changes in soil moisture. As the soil becomes drier, the Tropf-Blumat opens the water supply. Once sufficient moisture has been restored, water delivery stops automatically. This single-unit version is particularly useful for expanding an existing installation or replacing a sensor when you already have the necessary connection components.

Individual moisture control for each plant

Every Tropf-Blumat operates independently from the other sensors in the irrigation system. This allows individual plants to receive water according to their own requirements rather than according to a fixed watering duration. No electricity, electronics or timer is required. The water-filled clay cone responds to the moisture conditions in the surrounding soil and controls water flow through the integrated valve.

Ideal for extensions and replacement sensors

This version is supplied without a drip tube or T-piece. To connect it to a standard Tropf-Blumat feeding line, you will need a 3 mm drip tube and a suitable 8-3-8 mm T-piece, or the appropriate end-piece when installing the sensor at the end of a feeding tube. This makes the single sensor a practical option when the remaining connection parts are already available.

Preparation and positioning

Before installation, the Tropf-Blumat is completely filled with water and closed while submerged. It is then inserted beside the plant into thoroughly moistened soil, with the clay cone completely surrounded by the growing medium. The connected drip tube is routed through the sensor head and water delivery is adjusted with the setting screw. Tropf-Blumat is designed for drip irrigation of outdoor plants, including applications on balconies and terraces, in greenhouses and polytunnels, and in raised beds.
