Tropf-Blumat Maxi for demand-based watering in large plant containers

The Tropf-Blumat Maxi, 2 pcs. is designed for automatic watering of larger plants in deep pots and planters. Like the standard Tropf-Blumat, each sensor monitors the moisture of the surrounding soil and controls water delivery accordingly. Its longer design reaches further into the substrate, making the Maxi version particularly useful for larger and deep-rooted plants.

Moisture sensing deeper in the root zone

The Tropf-Blumat Maxi is intended for plant containers at least 30 cm high. Its deeper sensor position allows moisture to be monitored further down in the root zone. This helps maintain even moisture around the roots while the surface of the substrate can remain comparatively dry. Further components for building or extending a system are available in the Blumat irrigation range.

Installation and adjustment

Before installation, the substrate should be watered thoroughly so moisture is distributed evenly throughout the container. Blumat recommends doing this around half an hour before inserting the sensor. The Tropf-Blumat Maxi is then pushed into the soil and the surrounding substrate pressed down gently. In very firm or densely rooted substrates, making a suitable hole first can make installation easier.

Expandable for larger watering areas

For wider containers, additional drip points can be used to spread water across a larger area. The Blumat Distribution Dripper Set allows up to five distribution drippers to be connected to one Tropf-Blumat Maxi. The supplied T-piece connects the sensor to the main line, which can be extended using a suitable 8 mm Blumat feeding tube.
