In cultivation, Critical develops a vigorous and strongly branched plant structure with clear growth force and good adaptation to different substrates and growing styles. Indoors, it stays within a workable range when managed properly, but it should not be kept too long in vegetative growth so the plants do not become excessively large. Outdoors, it can expand much more strongly and grow very large under favourable conditions. Because of its heavy flowers, additional support can be useful in the later phase.

Plants usually reach around 60 to 90 centimetres indoors, while outdoors they can grow up to about 3 metres. The outdoor harvest window usually falls at the beginning of October.
