What is CBG or Cannabigerol – What are its properties?

Cannabigerol (CBG) content in cannabis strains is usually negligible, in most cases less than 1%. Cannabigerol is the precursor of other cannabinoids in the plant, being essential for the synthesis of THCA, CBDA, and CBCA. Due to a recessive gene, Pure CBG does not produce high concentrations of THC and other cannabinoids. Cannabigerol is considered a CB-1 receptor antagonist, which affects the central nervous system by acting as a THC inhibitor. It is a powerful antispasmodic, builds bone tissue, and has antibiotic and anti-inflammatory effects. It also acts as an appetite stimulant, anxiolytic and painkiller, while treating inflammations of the digestive system and exhibiting antiseptic properties.

Pure CBG strain origins, a Matterhorn x Fenocan hybrid

Pure CBG is the encounter between Matterhorn and Fenocan, creating a CBG hybrid that develops like an Indica, with a robust and well-branched structure capable of supporting the weight of its flowers. It is suitable for both indoor and outdoor cultivation, requiring minimal fertilisation, preferring light and spaced fertilisers applications.

Outdoors, it is ready to harvest at late September or early October in the Northern Hemisphere, taking about 55 days after the photoperiod change to 12/12 indoors. The buds reach a good size and produce a substantial amount of resin, with even some larger leaves covered in glands. These can be used to elaborate extracts of great interest due to their unusual cannabinoid composition.

Indoor yields can reach up to 500g per m2, while with ample direct sunlight and cultivation in open ground, outdoor yields can produce generous harvests of up to 1kg per plant.
