Peat-free Living Soil for a biologically active root zone

Herbi’s Living Soil is a ready-to-use, peat-free growing mix suitable for the full cultivation cycle. It can be used for direct sowing, propagation and repotting as well as for plants grown indoors or outdoors. Its pre-fertilised formulation provides beginners with a straightforward starting point, while experienced growers receive a microbially active medium that can be reused.

Natural ingredients and active soil biology

Developed in New Zealand and manufactured in Germany by Floragard, the formulation is based exclusively on natural raw materials. These include biochar, worm humus, neem cake, composts, coco pith and mineral components. Bacteria, nematodes and other microorganisms populate the growing medium and support natural decomposition and nutrient-cycling processes. Gentle pre-fertilisation with Herbi All Natural 4+4+4 means that the soil can be used directly without preparing a separate substrate recipe beforehand.

Fine structure for sowing and repotting

The very fine structure makes Herbi’s Living Soil suitable for both direct sowing and transplanting young plants. When seedlings are moved, the loose mix is designed to reduce transplant stress and provide even contact between the roots and growing medium. Its balanced combination of water retention and drainage keeps moisture available without unnecessarily restricting airflow around the roots. Suitable breathable fabric pots can complement these properties.

Care and use across several cultivation cycles

Keep the soil evenly and lightly moist wherever possible, avoiding both complete drying and prolonged waterlogging. As Herbi’s Living Soil is reusable, it can be reconditioned in accordance with the manufacturer’s feeding scheme before another cultivation cycle. Additional fertilisers or soil amendments should be selected according to the plant, growth stage and condition of the medium rather than added routinely. The 20-litre bag is convenient for smaller projects, while the 40-litre option supplies more medium for larger containers or several plants.
