Descrizione

Cherry Poppers is a photoperiod feminized variety from Barney’s Farm with a 60% sativa genotype, combining a sweet cherry and lemon aroma with earthy and spicy undertones. The breeder places its THC at around 31%, so it’s advisable to approach it with some experience. Its hybrid effect starts with a clear and uplifted mind and gradually shifts toward a calm body relaxation.

A cherry-flavored chapter in the Barney’s Farm catalog

Barney’s Farm has its origins in the early 1980s, when its founder, Derry, settled in the Himalayas and began selecting plants for their flavor, aroma and potency. Over the decades, the company made its name with award-winning releases such as G13 Haze, Liberty Haze and Amnesia Haze.

In recent years the breeder has focused on highly fruity genetics, and Cherry Poppers is part of a growing family of cherry varieties that includes Black Cherry Gushers, Lemon Cherry Gelato and Tropicana Cherry. Among growers it also circulates under nicknames like Cherry Popperz or Poppa Cherry, a sign of how quickly it has found its own audience.

Cherry Poppers genetics: Lemon Kush crosses with Cherry Zkittlez

Cherry Poppers is born from the cross between Lemon Kush and Cherry Zkittlez, two lines known respectively for their citrus freshness and candied fruit. The result is a sativa-dominant hybrid with a 60/40 sativa to indica ratio.

The plant displays an elongated structure with sativa tendency, although its flowers stack in dense clusters covered by a thick layer of shiny trichomes. Users describe the cured buds as heavy and dark, and some growers lower the night temperature at the end of flowering to try to bring out more color.

Lemon Kush

Lemon Kush, also known as Cali Lemon Kush, is a hybrid whose exact pedigree remains a matter of debate. The most widespread version describes it as Master Kush x Lemon Joy, while the Alien Genetics one combines Lemon G, a highly prized Ohio cut, with an Afghan Kush.

Whatever the version, Lemon Kush stands out for its sweet and citrusy lemon over an earthy Kush base, with light green buds frosted with trichomes. In Cherry Poppers it brings sparkling top notes and a robust structure.

Cherry Zkittlez

Cherry Zkittlez, often abbreviated as Cherry Z, brings together The Original Z with Cherry Pie. It’s usually described as a balanced hybrid with a cherry candy profile, tropical sweetness and a slightly spicy finish, with myrcene as the main terpene.

Its Zkittlez side descends from Grape Ape and Grapefruit and achieved top honors at the Emerald Cup. In Cherry Poppers, this parent contributes the fruity sweetness and abundant resin production that define the variety.

The candy-inspired name of Zkittlez didn’t go unnoticed. Mars Wrigley, the company behind Skittles candy, filed a lawsuit against Terphogz, the team credited with creating the Zkittlez variety, a reminder that the cannabis world’s fondness for sweet names can end up in court.

How to grow Cherry Poppers indoors and outdoors

Indoors, Cherry Poppers reaches approximately 100 to 120 cm and needs about 60 to 65 days of flowering, although some growers give it up to 10 weeks to fully mature. Under well-tuned conditions it can produce around 600 to 650 g/m².

Outdoors, plants stretch up to about 200 cm and can yield up to approximately 1000 g per plant. Harvest arrives during the first half of October, making it a sensible choice for areas with a reasonably dry start to autumn.

Its open structure responds well to training, and there are growers who have used topping and mainlining to achieve a uniform canopy of main colas. Germination is usually reliable, with fast root development in both soil and hydro.

Difficulty is placed at an intermediate level. It’s a manageable variety, but some growers observe differences between plants in nutrient requirements, water consumption and bud density, so a stable environment and careful observation translate into more consistent results.

Flavor, aroma and effect of Cherry Poppers

The aroma opens with sweet cherry over layers of lemon, berries and a spicy touch, with earthy undertones in the background. Some phenotypes add a creamy and slightly gassy nuance that’s perceived as soon as you open the jar.

On the palate, the cherry becomes candied and gains sweetness on the inhale, while citrus and red fruit notes persist on the exhale. The terpene profile is led by limonene, with caryophyllene and myrcene completing the mix.

The effect follows a clearly hybrid curve. Users describe a lucid uplift that maintains focus while a gentle relaxation spreads through the body, and many find it chatty and creative before settling into a calm and grounded finish.

Due to its high THC, Cherry Poppers suits consumers who already know their tolerance and seek a flavor-focused session with real strength behind it. For the grower, it offers a rewarding combination of generous yields and a cherry profile that stands out in any jar.
