Blumat Tank Connector 8 mm for gravity-fed water supplies
The Blumat Tank Connector 8 mm connects the feeding tube of a Tropf-Blumat irrigation system directly to a water tank. This allows you to operate the system without a mains water connection, using an elevated reservoir as the water source instead. The connector can be fitted to tanks of different shapes and sizes and provides the transition from the reservoir to the 8 mm main feeding line.
Simple installation in the water tank
Installation requires a 12 mm diameter hole in the tank wall. The supplied seal is fitted on the inside of the tank to seal the connection. You can then attach a suitable Blumat 8 mm feeding tube and run the main line towards your plants.
Gravity-fed operation without a tap
When supplied from an elevated tank, the Tropf-Blumat system uses the water pressure created by the difference in height. According to Blumat, the water level in the tank must be 0.5–14 m above the plants. For reliable operation, the manufacturer recommends positioning the water level at least 1 m above the irrigation sensors.
Useful additions to your Tropf-Blumat system
Blumat recommends fitting a shut-off valve for the 8 mm feeding tube shortly after the tank connector. This makes it easier to stop the water supply during installation, maintenance or system adjustments.
