Blue Pearl is a feminized hybrid from Purple City Genetics with an indica profile, included in the El Krem collection from the Californian seed bank. Its aroma combines citrus caramel with a gassy and funky background, and its high THC content delivers an effect with character. It’s ideal for growers seeking a modern, resinous genetics with pronounced terpenes, both for enjoying as flower and for making extractions.
Genetics: Indigo x GovernMint Oasis
Blue Pearl comes from the cross between Indigo (Blue Lemonene x Moltov Cocktail) and GovernMint Oasis (GMO x Gush Mints). It brings together two lineages very present in the current Californian scene.
Indigo contributes the more citrus and sweet part of the profile, while GovernMint Oasis adds the gassy background and the heritage of GMO and Gush Mints. The latter is known for its dense and resinous buds and for a dominant limonene-type terpene. On its side, GMO descends from Chem D and Forum GSC, and Gush Mints combines Kush Mints with F1 Durb and Gushers, which explains the gas and funky component that appears in Blue Pearl.
In cultivation: resinous and extraction-oriented
Indoors, Blue Pearl completes flowering in about 8-9 weeks. It’s a contained cycle for an indica hybrid with such intense terpenes, and allows planning harvests without extending the growing period too much.
Its belonging to the El Krem collection is no coincidence. Purple City Genetics groups in this line the varieties that work well for hash, and in Blue Pearl the good trichome coverage stands out. It’s an option to consider if you’re planning to dedicate part of the harvest to dry extractions, ice water or pressing.
Flavor and effect: citrus caramel, gas and potency
Blue Pearl’s aromatic profile can be summarized as citrus caramel with gas: a sweet and sour note in the foreground and, underneath, a gassy background of OG-type and somewhat funky that recalls its GovernMint Oasis side.
When smoked, that mix of citrus sweetness and fuel remains on the palate. The effect is potent, in line with its high THC content, so it’s advisable to dose it carefully if you’re not accustomed to genetics of this level.
