Poddy Mouth

Description

Poddy Mouth by Humboldt Seed Company

Poddy Mouth is not defined by a standard bud shape. The name comes from its bracts, the “pods,” which carry a heavy trichome coat and give the flower its own look. That surface is what made the line stand out in Humboldt Seed Company’s 2020 pheno hunt.

Ridgeline Farms is central to the story of this cultivar. After the first selection, Poddy Mouth went to Jason Gellman for research and development before later being released as a stabilized seed line. This is not smooth catalogue language. It is field testing, bract structure and real Humboldt feedback shaping the release.

The official parental foundation is Humboldt Pound Cake × Mountaintop Mint, while the current seed line is listed as S2 × PDM#30. Humboldt Pound Cake contributes the dense flower structure, and Mountaintop Mint adds the cooler gas and earthy side. Continued seed work is aimed at preserving the unusually large, heavily trichome-covered bracts.

Flowering sits around 55 days, with the outdoor window running roughly from September 25 to October 10. Poddy Mouth forms many bracts and far fewer classic red stigmas, so the usual read through pistil maturity matters less here. This cultivar asks for closer attention to structure, surface and trichome maturity.

Gas, earth and a sweet finish give Poddy Mouth a dry profile direction. The current HSC product page confirms an approximately 55-day flowering period and mold resistance. Additional breeder-based reporting cites wash results of 4 to 7 percent.
