Pink Berkeley Tie Dye -tomaatti

Kuvaus

Pink Berkeley Tie Dye is a variety of tomato native to Berkeley (California) and produced by Kokopelli.. It is a cross between Cherokee Purple and Green Zebra, varieties selected by Bradley Gates of Wild Boar Farms during the 1980s. Is a well-known variety for winning several contests.

Pink Berkeley tomatoes are medium to large, with a round slightly flattened shape. The skin is pale pink in colour and the flesh is dark red. These tomatoes are very juicy and have a smooth and creamy texture.

This tomato is popular with horticulturists and chefs alike due to its excellent flavour and texture. It is particularly suitable for use in salads, sauces, and pasta dishes. However, they remain fresh shortly after the harvest. They are kept for a short time after harvest., so we can use them to make sauces or gazpacho.

Pink Berkeley Tie Dye cultivation

Pink Berkeley tomatoes are relatively easy to grow in hot and sunny climates although that variety can be grown in slightly cooler and cloudier places.

Sowing is recommended in spring and transplanting after the last frost. It is recommended a 70cm distance between plants. The soil must be well drained and the growing space, if possible, sunny.

They produce tomatoes 8-15 cm in diameter with a mottled colour. The harvest takes place between June and October depending on the cultivation place.
