Tropf-Blumat for automatic demand-based plant watering

The Tropf-Blumat, 1 pc. combines a moisture sensor and watering unit in one component. It responds directly to the moisture level of the surrounding soil and controls water delivery according to the plant’s actual requirements. It can be used to extend an existing Tropf-Blumat installation or to replace an existing sensor. Its mechanical operating principle requires no electricity, electronic controller or fixed watering schedule.

Watering controlled by soil moisture

The Tropf-Blumat contains water internally, while its porous clay cone remains in contact with the growing medium. As the soil dries, the pressure inside the sensor changes and the integrated valve allows water to flow. Once sufficient moisture has returned, water delivery is automatically reduced and stopped. This allows individual plants within the same system to respond independently to their own water requirements.

Easy integration into a Tropf-Blumat system

The sensor is inserted approximately 7 cm into the soil. It comes with an approximately 200 mm drip tube and a T-piece with 8-3-8 mm connections. This allows it to connect directly to a suitable 8 mm Blumat feeding tube. Additional components and replacement parts are available in the Blumat irrigation systems range.

Flexible watering for different plant sizes

For larger containers or growing areas, the system can be expanded with additional sensors or a Blumat Distribution Dripper Set. Where the installation is supplied from a water reservoir, a 47 litre Blumat tank can be incorporated into a suitably configured Tropf-Blumat system.
