Sumo’s Big Bud by Sumo Seeds
This variety puts its purpose right on the table. Sumo’s Big Bud is built around output, but not as a loose yielding machine with no shape. It leans toward a compact and heavier type with clearly oversized flower sets. That pressure in bud formation is the real core here, not just the familiar name.
The genetics go deeper than a generic Big Bud label. Sumo Seeds describes it as a recross of their older Big Bud with a hybrid made from Old Afghani, Skunk 1 and Northern Light. Afghan, Skunk 1 and White Widow are also part of the older base. That fits the variety, because it does not only push yield, but also holds a denser and weightier frame.
In structure, it runs relatively compact and squat, while carrying disproportionately large flowers. It forms big, firm and resin rich tops, together with a format that is commercially useful and fairly manageable indoors. This is not a long and airy line. It is a plant that pushes a visible share of its mass directly into the flowers.
On yield, Sumo’s Big Bud clearly moves the emphasis forward. Indoor yields usually come to around 480 to 600 grams per square metre. Paired with the compact flower structure, that makes for a picture that holds together well.
On the profile side, the variety stays closer to the older Skunk and Afghan side, with earthy, woody and more spicy tones rather than bright fruit. That matches the whole construction. Sumo’s Big Bud does not live from exotic sharpness, but from a dense and heavy plant frame with a classic undertone. That is what gives it enough identity, even though the Big Bud name is used very broadly across the market.
