DutchPro Calmag – Targeted Calcium and Magnesium Supplementation for Healthy Plant Growth

DutchPro Calmag is a concentrated liquid nutrient supplement designed to provide plants with additional calcium and magnesium. The formula also contains nitrogen, helping growers prevent or correct deficiencies in these essential nutrients. It is particularly useful when working with soft water, reverse osmosis water or growing conditions that increase nutrient demand. Suitable for indoor and outdoor cultivation, DutchPro Calmag can be used with soil, coco and hydroponic growing systems.

Three Essential Nutrients for Plant Development

Calcium plays an important role in cell wall formation, providing structural support and contributing to healthy new growth. Magnesium is a central component of chlorophyll, the green pigment plants need for photosynthesis. An insufficient supply of either nutrient can interfere with normal plant development.

DutchPro Calmag combines these two elements with additional nitrogen, which plants use to produce amino acids and proteins. This makes it a useful supplement to an existing feeding programme, providing targeted nutrients alongside a complete base fertiliser.

Supporting Plants Grown with Soft Water or Reverse Osmosis Water

The amount of calcium and magnesium available in irrigation water depends largely on its mineral content. Reverse osmosis water contains very few dissolved minerals, making additional supplementation useful when these nutrients are not sufficiently supplied by the base feed.

DutchPro Calmag allows growers to adjust their calcium and magnesium supply to suit their water quality. It can also help meet increased nutrient requirements in growing environments with supplemental CO2.

For complete plant nutrition, DutchPro Calmag can be combined with a suitable base feed, such as DutchPro Original Grow Soil A & B SW for soil cultivation or DutchPro Original Hydro/Cocos Grow A & B SW for coco and hydroponics. Both base feeds already contain calcium and magnesium, so their contribution should be considered when calculating the additional dose.

Dosage and Application

The recommended dosage is 0.1–1 ml of DutchPro Calmag per litre of water. DutchPro recommends weekly use, starting in the first week of vegetative growth. Shake the container thoroughly before use and adjust the amount according to water quality and the rest of the feeding programme.

When preparing a nutrient solution with reverse osmosis water, DutchPro recommends adding Calmag to the water before introducing the base nutrients. Monitoring electrical conductivity (EC) helps you track the overall concentration of dissolved nutrients. Suitable EC meters for nutrient solutions make this easier to manage.

Avoid unnecessary overapplication, as excessive concentrations of individual nutrients may interfere with the uptake of other essential elements.
