PLANT!T vermiculit

Beskrivelse

Vermiculite retains water and keeps nutrients available in the substrate

PLANT!T Vermiculite is a natural, odorless mica mineral used to improve substrates. It holds water within its structure, helping provide plants with a more even moisture supply.

Thanks to its high cation exchange capacity, dissolved nutrients can be retained more effectively in the substrate. This helps prevent nutrients from being washed out too quickly and keeps them available over a longer period.

Use as a substrate additive

You can work vermiculite directly into soil, coco substrate, or propagation mixes. It loosens the structure, increases water reserves, and can help stabilize moisture availability during warm or dry phases.

• Lightly moisten dry vermiculite before mixing to reduce dust.
• Mix evenly into the substrate to prevent layering.
• Adjust watering amounts: the substrate often stays moist for longer.

As a protective top layer to reduce evaporation

Used as a top dressing, vermiculite can reduce evaporation and slow down surface drying. This is especially helpful for houseplants, young plants, and in sunny locations or windy conditions.

Apply only a thin layer so water can still penetrate well and the surface doesn’t stay overly wet.

Properties and notes

Vermiculite is a mineral material commonly used as a substrate component for propagation, cuttings, and container growing. It is not a fertilizer; its main role is supporting water balance and nutrient availability in the root zone.

As with all fine substrate additives: avoid inhaling dust and moisten the material if needed. Wash hands after decanting or mixing, and store in a dry place.
