Check light intensity and distribution throughout your growing area

The Milwaukee MW700 PRO Lux Meter is a portable digital light meter designed to measure illuminance up to 50,000 Lux. It allows you to check light distribution in an indoor grow, greenhouse or other horticultural environment and compare different positions or lamp heights. The separate light sensor can be positioned at the actual measuring point while the display remains easy to read.

Three ranges for different light levels

The MW700 provides three manually selectable measurement ranges: 0–1,999 Lux, 2,000–19,999 Lux and 20,000–50,000 Lux. Resolution is 1, 10 or 100 Lux respectively, with an accuracy of ±6% of the reading ±1 digit. Once the appropriate range has been selected, the manufacturer specifies approximately one second for the reading to stabilise.

Separate sensor for flexible positioning

The waterproof silicon photodiode light sensor is connected to the meter by an approximately 1.3 m cable. This makes it easy to position the sensor at plant height or at several points across the growing area without having to place the complete meter there. You can therefore compare the centre and edges of the illuminated area or assess changes after adjusting your lighting. Understanding Lux measurements in horticulture

Lux measures illuminance according to the spectral sensitivity of human vision. The MW700 is therefore particularly useful for comparative measurements and checking how evenly light is distributed across an area. Lux is not the same measurement as PAR or PPFD, however, so it does not replace a direct measurement of photosynthetically active photon flux when that specific value is required.

Portable operation with long battery life

The meter operates from a 9 V alkaline battery and provides approximately 150 hours of continuous use according to the manufacturer. A low-battery indicator warns when the battery is becoming depleted. To conserve power, the instrument automatically switches off after approximately five minutes without use.
