Blumat Hole Punch – easier sensor installation in compact soil

The Blumat Hole Punch is an installation tool designed for the Tropf-Blumat Maxi and Blumat Digital. Its shape and size are matched to these two sensors. It is particularly useful in compact or densely rooted soil, where it helps you prepare a suitable hole before inserting the sensor.

Prepare the hole without forcing the sensor

Firm growing media can make it difficult to position a clay cone neatly at the required depth. The hole punch prepares the soil first, allowing the compatible sensor to be inserted more easily. This is particularly useful with the longer Tropf-Blumat Maxi and the Blumat Digital. Further compatible components are available in the Blumat irrigation systems and accessories range.

Maintain good contact with the surrounding soil

Blumat recommends making the hole away from the plant stem to reduce the risk of damaging roots. After preparing the hole, add a small amount of loose soil before inserting the sensor. This helps the clay cone make good contact with the surrounding soil. The tool is therefore a useful installation aid for pots and growing areas where the medium is already compact or heavily rooted.
