Tropf-Blumat twin pack for automatic demand-based plant watering

The Tropf-Blumat, 2 pcs. set adds two independently controlled watering points to an existing Tropf-Blumat irrigation system. Each Tropf-Blumat acts as both a soil-moisture sensor and a watering unit, regulating water delivery according to the moisture surrounding its ceramic cone. The system works mechanically, without electricity or electronic controls. According to the manufacturer, it is intended for applications such as balconies, terraces, greenhouses, polytunnels and raised beds.

Watering controlled by actual soil moisture

The water-filled ceramic cone responds directly to changes in moisture within the soil. As the growing medium becomes drier, the Tropf-Blumat opens its valve and allows water to reach the plant through the drip tube. Once sufficient moisture has been restored, the valve closes again. Because every sensor operates independently, plants with different watering requirements can share the same supply system. Further components are available in the Blumat irrigation systems range.

Simple expansion of an existing Tropf-Blumat setup

This twin pack is designed for extending an existing installation. Along with the two Tropf-Blumat sensors, it includes two 3 mm drip tubes and two 8-3-8 mm T-pieces for connecting the sensors to the supply line. For larger plants and deeper containers, the Tropf-Blumat Maxi provides a longer sensor option. You can also find additional tubing, connectors and complete systems in the plant irrigation range.

Individual control for each plant

Blumat recommends using at least one Tropf-Blumat per plant or container as a starting point. Larger containers and growing areas can be covered with additional sensors or distribution drippers. Before installation, each sensor is completely filled with water and placed into thoroughly moistened soil. The required watering response is then adjusted using the setting screw on the sensor.
